Samo's 4-H Chocolate Chip Cookies

From the Kitchen of: Jaime & Samuel, @jaimewhitlock

· Block Party

Anyone else craving something sweet? Jaime's got us covered! I've got the cookie recipe here in my hot little hand that she mentioned in her Supper Story with us! I love that she makes these with her son! I have such a soft spot for 4-H. I was in the program when I was a kid and when mine were little, I was a community leader. It's such a great organization! So glad to see 4-H inspiring kids to get in the kitchen! Keep it up Samuel!

Here is the recipe they have been using to bless their friends and family. I just love the way Jaime explains the process. <3

Samo's 4-H Food Preparation Project Chocolate Chip Cookie

4 sticks of butter
1 1/2 c sugar
1 cup light brown sugar
1 1/4 c dark brown sugar
3 whole eggs
3 egg yolks
2 TBSP vanilla
6 c flour
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
2 c milk chocolate chips
2 c dark chocolate chips (or semi-sweet)

Melt the butter PARTIALLY (so that it's a weird looking half melted, half sad looking stick of butter that's really soft) and set it aside to cool for a few minutes or pop it in the freezer for 2 minutes if you're impatient like me. Cream the sugars and cooled, meltedish butter together. Add the whole eggs one at a time while mixer is on slow speed, then add the egg yolks one at a time. Add the vanilla (I highly recommend using a quality vanilla extract that IS NOT IMITATION, it really does make the difference but do what your budget allows!) Add the baking soda and salt and mix well, then add one cup of flour at a time until combined. Stir in the chocolate chips and mix well. I use a small cookie scoop to scoop them out onto a baking sheet and bake for 9 minutes 30 seconds with a convection oven at 350 degrees F. On a regular oven I would suggest baking them 9 minutes at 375F and then adjust your cooking time as necessary. I realize that everyone has their own desired "doneness" for cookies. My mom prefers hers crispy so I bake them longer for her. We like ours chewy but not doughy, so the 9 m 30 s works perfectly in our oven but also, all ovens are not created equal! Some cook hotter than others! Let cool and enjoy!
