"Be yourself, always. People are going to love you and others are going to steer clear, and that is okay. Always keep moving forward, and never settle on your dreams."
Amy Edelman is more proof that you can meet beautiful people on Instagram. We were connected by a mutual friend (Thanks Amie!) and right away I knew we needed to work together on this project. Amy makes some SUPER fun, unique and beautiful crocheted items. She is also pursuing full time RV Life! I immediately wanted to support her in her journey towards living on the road, so here we are, sitting around the imaginary "Supper Stories" table, talking about her business, her goals, her motivation and peeking into the heart of it all. Won't you join us?
I have many favorites but since its winter and I like feeling cozy, I am going to go with 3-bean chili! We find ourselves making it in the Crock-pot, usually on a Sunday or if we ever have company! We're eating it because its nutritious, is comforting and can be made up how you like. We enjoy putting a layer of rice, then a layer or tortilla chips and then scooping the chili over all of it. If I have an avocado, that goes on top too! We are a dairy free family, so you'll also find nutritional yeast sprinkled on my personal bowl! Yum! We don't really have a recipe, we just pick out 3 cans of beans, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, cut up onion/garlic, some sauce and we make our own seasoning!
Hey! My name is Amy, I am 29 and I live in Pennsylvania! I'm married to the love of my life, Toby, and we have a three year old daughter, Abigail. I am currently a stay at home mom!
My business is called Earth Angel Creations. I am a crochet artist. I provide basically anything that can be crocheted and made with yarn. I tend to specialize and lean towards hats! I have made blankets, bikini tops, scarves and swiffer pads!
Well, I learned to crochet when I was 8. I met a neighbor a few houses up from me while roller skating. One day she invited me onto her porch and before I knew it, she taught me how to knit, crochet and do plastic canvas. At 8, I was more drawn to plastic canvas and made TONS of coasters, baskets and wall hangings. However, when I was pregnant, I got the itch to make my own baby hats and blankets. So ever since 2014 I have been crocheting on and off for family and friends.
My family and I have recently decided to up and change our entire lives. We currently live in a home that we don't love and bought for many wrong reasons, so my main focus right now is helping my husband pay down some debt, get my blog up and running and selling crochet items to help fund our full time travels in an RV. We hope to start in the beginning of 2019!
My biggest challenge right now is probably time management. My house chores are getting completed, but my time with my daughter is a little less now that I started crocheting more, am running 2 Instagram accounts and have started a blog. I just feel like, I may suffer a little bit now, but once we are free from our personal "chains" we'll have tons of time together.
Truthfully, my biggest victory in my business has been befriending fellow crocheters and Instagramers! I have a few I talk to almost every day. It is the best part about an online business.
I am personally more spiritually based versus religion. I have a personal relationship with God and communicate with Him and His angels. I haven't had a moment yet where my faith has carried me in my venture other than being told that this is okay. This is kind of hard to answer for me, I am not going to lie. The title of my business is Earth Angel because of how spiritually connected I am with those who have passed.
Acceptance. I wouldn't have something physical to provide but acceptance is a powerful word for me. I have talked to many people who felt scared to show their items or business to the world. So if there was one thing I could provide, is to let them all know they are accepted and loved by me!
Why do I want to cry on this question, geesh! I am such an emotional person! I would tell myself, "You have the power to change your outcome. You can control your mind and your actions to change your future. Be mindful of both."
“Mindful.” Such an important word! And I'm a crier girl...I feel ya.
Be yourself, always. People are going to love you and others are going to steer clear, and that is okay. Always keep moving forward, and never settle on your dreams. Life passes us by so quickly and I don't believe it leaves time for "could have, should have, would have." And whatever you do, try your best to make at least one person feel loved.
All of that is beautiful, sound and wise advice!
Amy, I am so grateful you chose to share your heart, your story and your precious encouragement! I wish you the very, very best on your RV adventure and am so excited to cheer you on!
